Hidden gems integrated into the wellness area
The bio-garnet sauna at the Seefischer wellness hotel in Austria, located directly on Lake Millstätter See, is modelled on an old mine shaft and is made exclusively of natural materials such as stone, wood and garnet.
The gemstone is said to have special healing properties for the body and mind. Garnet is said to strengthen the heart and have a positive effect on mental performance. The stone is also said to help against despondency, while at the same time having a positive influence on the blood circulation.
The ancient Egyptians used garnet as a medicine. The stone was incorporated into amulets to protect against bad dreams. At the same time, the wearer of the amulet was supposed to be strengthened with new power and energy. The gemstone strengthens mental performance. Many people also believe in its aphrodisiac effect.
Hildegard von Bingen also knew of the healing properties of this gemstone. In the case of fever or gout, the garnet should be placed on the navel, and in the case of headaches, on the crown of the person affected. If the skin warms up, the stone should be removed immediately.
Sauna visits with a healing effect
Sweating in the sauna has a generally healing effect. Sauna bathing strengthens the body's defences, stimulates the heart and circulation, and also has a relaxing effect – successfully reducing stress. Rheumatic complaints can be alleviated in the sauna. Sweating is also good for the skin. Dirt and grease particles are washed out of the body with the sweat. The result is pure, soft skin.
The special feature of the garnet sauna at the ‘Seefischer’ is its pleasant temperature. It is kept at a comfortable 65°C to 70°C, which means it is not too hot.
